Friday Favorites

Hello all, so I've decided every Friday I will comprise a list of tracks to get your weekend started! Feel free to share and let me know what you think, you can find me on KZOK's Facebook (facebook.com/KZOKFM), Twitter (@KZOKFM) and Instagram (@1025KZOK).

Crate digging at Hi-Voltage in Tacoma!

We begin with a little diddy from the Kinks 1966 release, Face to Face.. It's a whimsy tune sure to give you a smile and contradicts itself with slightly twisted lyrics. This little Queen will have you dancing into the moonlight with her temptress ways.. a simple upbeat melody and even more basic drum solo brings just the right amount of charm to get your evening started.

Speaking of Queens... Don't Stop Me Now is a classic sure to hit all of your heart strings as well as uplift you to the heavens with Freddie's devastating vocals.. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." as he would put it.

Nobody does "sexy" quite like Led Zeppelin... This deep track will heat up your night with Robert's passionate wails and Page's slippery riffs. Take note of John Paul Jones' killer synth solo that leads into Bonham and Page entangling in a sensuous dance. Don't let the long drone intro deter you... (Although i think it sets the mood quite nicely)

...and to cap it off I give you the Starman himself.. the Thin White Duke, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dog, Ziggy Stardust.. Mr. David Bowie. This rockin' tune draws you right in with a hit of Mick Ronson's Les Paul. Bowie looking like a praying mantis with his thin build and white kimono. I love watching the live version from their iconic motion picture Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, filmed at the Hammersmith in London (1973).
