Sarah's Beer of the Week 08.06.2020

It's pretty rare that my fridge doesn't have two staples. No, not ketchup and mustard. Rainier and Sierra Nevada. Those are just two things that always must be in there! Sierra Nevada has a ton of different beers, but I always go for the original, the pale ale. However, this week at Total Wine I spotted a collaboration I had to try. Sierra Nevada and Bitburger. Sierra Nevada is one of the grandaddy's of craft brewing. They were founded in 1980. Bitburger is a German brewery, who have been brewing since 1817. Oddly enough, I'd never heard of it nor tried it before moving here to Seattle. It's common to see in bars here. They only brew 2 beers, and what you mostly see is the premium pils. This beer is called Bitburger/Sierra Nevada Triple Hop'd Lager. For this collaboration, they used German and US hops. The result is super tasty. It has the combo of both styles. You get some citrus and pine from the IPA and smooth clean drinking of a lager. It's an interesting combo, and thoroughly enjoyable. I was surprised the ABV is higher than either of the breweries standards. 5.8%. This is limited edition, so if you're interested (and you should be) pick it up before it's gone! Cheers beer friends.
