Bend Oregon. Home to a LOT of amazing beer. I have friends who vacation there, solely for the beer. While I haven't been, I do enjoy finding beers from there to try. This time, I spotted something interesting at Whole Foods. A bomber. Ahh...Freak Oat Oatmeal Pale Ale. Yep, oatmeal pale. That's not something you see every day. This is from Silver Moon Brewing. I found it smooth, and crisp, yet a thicker mouthfeel. And yes, hoppy, but not overly so. Rumor has it, the oatmeal is what gives it the smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Definitely pine forward, more so than I would have thought for a pale. This was a fun beer to try, as it's different, but not outside of the scope. Meaning, I don't need wacky ingredients, but change is also good. I will continue to try beers from Bend, and I suggest you do the same!
