Ozzy Osbourne leads Rock’s Grammy nominees after picking up four nominations for his latest album ‘Patient Number 9’. Robert Plant, the Black Keys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others also up for awards.
In the History of Rock in 1968 – Led Zeppelin played their first ever show in the North of England when they appeared at Manchester College of Science & Technology. Zeppelin were paid around $270 for the gig.
In 1974 – John Lennon had his only solo, number one hit in the US during his lifetime with “Whatever Gets You Through the Night”. Elton John played on the session and made a deal with Lennon that if the song reached Number 1, Lennon would have to appear on stage live with Elton. Lennon kept his side of the deal at a later concert.
And in 1985 – Starship started a two-week run at Number 1 on the US singles chart with ‘We Built This City’.
