Sometumes people like to feed wild animals, one of which can be raccoons, one lady found out the hard way why maybe she shouldn't be doing that.
An unnamed woman in Washington had been feeding raccoons for 35 years, and then got a rude awakening. 100 raccoons surrounded her home and got aggressive when they didn'tget what they wanted. The woman, was trapped in her home in Poulsbo, and called the sheriff’s office.
“Somehow, the word got out in raccoon land and they all showed up to her house expecting a meal,” said Kevin McCarty, a spokesperson for the Kitsap county sheriff, who sent deputies. “They were shocked. They had never seen that many raccoons in one place. Nobody ever remembers being surrounded by a swarm of raccoons. This was a first.”
Normally this wasn't a problem in the neighborhood, but recently the rccoon population skied in numbers so when one raccoon knows where to get food, they all know where. The community hopes that a solution can be found soon.
