Today The Eagles Hit #1 For The First Time!

In 1975 the Eagles hit #1 with "One of These Nights"!

Their fourth album was the band's big commercial breakthrough, making them superstars, as the record became the Eagles' first number one album on Billboard. The album garnered three Top 10 singles, with "One of These Nights", "Lyin' Eyes" and "Take It to the Limit". The title track became the group's second number one single on the Billboard Hot 100, powering the album to sell four million copies and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. "Lyin' Eyes", was also nominated for Record of the Year, and won the Eagles' their first Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

One Of These Nights marked the first album of the group's working with Bill Szymczyk, and not Glyn Johns, who Bill replaced on their last album "On The Border". Szymczyk gave the group more production freedom than Johns who wanted to keep the band in the country rock lane they carved for themselves on their earlier albums.

One of These Nights would be the last album to feature the original lineup of Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon as it featured new member Don Felder, and Leadon would leave the band after the album's tour due to their musical direction out of country rock and a more mainstream sound. Bernie would be replaced by Joe Walsh, who previously toured with the band and worked with Szymczyk on his own albums.

The album would stay on top of the charts for 4 weeks, and was the first of four consecutive number one albums for the Eagles, going quadruple platinum. One Of These Nights is considered one of the band's biggest and most classic albums that still endures today.
