This week I had a style that was new to me. I bought a 'mystery 6-pack' from Teku Tavern, and there was some really fun stuff in there, including the 'Hazy Wheat' from Black Raven Brewing Company. Black Raven never disappoints. I usually go for the coco jones coconut porter or the Trickster IPA. This one was new to me, so I was excited to try it. Don't let the color fool you, it's not a light beer. Does pour quite pale yellow and...not so shocking...hazy. It's got some of the traditional flavors that go along with a wheat beer, but also some of the essence of a pale. So, considering its name, I'd say mission accomplished. This beer would be a good way for someone who isn't totally sold on wheats to give them a go. As I said, Black Raven never disappoints. If you've not tried that coco jones porter you need to change that immediately! Visit them in Redmond or Woodinville or just pick up a big boy at your local grocery story. Cheers!
