Oregon bans trapping of rare, Humboldt Marten

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission has banned the trapping of a rare cat-like creature. They are trying to protect what is projected to be fewer than 200 coastal Humboldt martens left in the state of Oregon.

Humboldt marten is carnivorous and about the size of a kitten!!! It is related to the mink, and has brown fur, pointy ears and a pointy nose as well. It is so rare it was thought to be extinct until a camera snapped a picture in 1996! You can read more about this HERE
