San Diego is one of our greatest beer towns. There are some legendary breweries, and brand new ones and all are making quality brew. Last time I was there I spent time at the old standards like Stone Brewing and Ballast Point. For this trip, I went to a spot called Half Door Brewing. The building is historical and looks like it belongs in New Orleans! Very cool location, and there is a feel of history inside as well. The taps are door knobs. Very cool. I ordered the Half Door Pale Ale. Citra hops, hints of mango and citrus, sounded good to me. I must say, when it arrived, I found it a strange color, so I sipped with trepidation. But thankfully, it was delicious! Sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover. I also sampled the Dad Bod Brown Ale which was also quite yummy. Great name. After the brewery I went to Petco Park for a Padres game. Had to indulge in a few Ballast Point. Great beer scene in SD, can't ever complain about a visit here! My advice always is, order something local, even if it's something your totally unfamiliar with. My experience is almost always positive!
