Sarah's Beer of the Week 04.25.19

When I travel I love to visit breweries in whatever country or city I'm in. When i Hawaii last week I visited two. Kahola Brewery and Maui Brewing Company. Kahola is reminiscent of many traditional breweries, industrial, no food, t-shirts for sale...visible brewing equipment. It feels real and comfortable. Maui Brewing Company is bigger, and has a few tap rooms that serve food, are family friendly and show sports. Both places had excellent beer, and a much bigger variety than I was anticipating. I've had the Maui Brewing Coconut Porter before, and found it sadly lacking in coconut. Not the case with the nitro Imperial Coconut Porter! Yes it was a big beer at 9.4% ABV but the flavor was excellent. I also enjoyed a red and a pale. Kahola has a pale called Talk Story, that is pretty outstanding. I also tried their red, and loved that as well. At both breweries the employees were SO nice and SO friendly. I'd imagine there is something pretty wrong if you can manage to be crabby in paradise. Maui is an incredible vacation destination, for so many things. Relaxing, snorkeling, golf, food, and yes...BEER. Check out my brewery pics below.  Kāmau kī`aha!
