This weekend would have marked Tom Petty's 68th birthday, and his hometown of Gainesville, Florida marked the occasion by having a dedication ceremony at the newly-renamed Tom Petty Park. Hundreds of Petty fans and Petty's family were on hand for the ceremony on Saturday. Tom's brother Bruce Petty says the two of them "grew up in this park" as kids, calling it a "place for us to escape". Petty honored his hometown with a previously unreleased song called "Gainesville" that appears on the new Petty box set An American Treasure.
