You know I love beer. But I also love a good cocktail. Nothing beats a place that can offer both. And delicious food to boot. This week Matt and I went to Liberty Bar in Capitol Hill. This place combines all my great loves. Beer, cocktails and...SUSHI! They have an insanely large and amazing cocktail menu. They make quality sushi. And they carefully select the beer on tap. I started with a wonderful whiskey drink but then chose an IPA from 10 Barrel. Tough to choose since they also had beers from Seapine Brewing, Holy Mountain and more. 10 Barrel is from Oregon. I've had plenty of their beers, most all outstanding. They got some backlash a few years ago when they sold to one of 'the big beer companies'. Doesn't matter all that much to me, as long as they are still making great beer. Which they are. The Joe IPA is made with some traditionally excellent hops. Simcoe, Amarillo, mosaic. If you're a hop head, which I am unashamed to say am, then you know those hops. This is a straight up American IPA. All of the right components. Bitter, smooth, well carbonated. Very darn good beer. Back to Liberty...Very good darn sushi! This satisfies on all accounts. Great food, great cocktails, and great NW brew.
