The 2018 Doomsday Clock Just Moved Closer To Doom

The Doomsday Clock, our global ticker on how close we are to apocalyptic times, has just moved one minute closer to midnight.

When the DC was first plugged in back in 1947, the biggest threat was a nuclear war. And at that time the clock was set at 7 minutes before midnight.

This year it has repositioned itself at two minutes before "Doom!".  The only other time the DC was this close was back in 1953, after the U.S. and Russia tested thermonuclear weapons.

Todays threat stems from the cyber-community.  From fake news, to spying to hacking and even bogus Hawaiian attack threats.  All of these factors have the Science and Security community concerned over a nuclear war, triggered by fake news and twitter-happy twits.

Of course, this can always be reversed if we can all just "...give peace a chance..."

*1991 was the safest year with the DC set at 17 minutes before midnight.
