Kurt Cobain's Estate Attacks London’s Royal Opera House & Rock Update

The estate of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain is not pleased with London’s Royal Opera House and their decision to stage a production based on Gus Van Sant’s 2005 film Last Days. The movie and play are loosely based on Cobain's final hours in Seattle. They are attacking the production for attempting to “profit” from Kurt’s death.

In the History of Rock in 1966 – The Yardbirds arrive in New York for their first US tour with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on lead guitars. After two shows, Beck developed acute tonsillitis and quit the group. He would go on to form The Jeff Beck Group that gave Rod Stewart his first major exposure.

In 1970 – The film Ned Kelly, starring Mick Jagger, is released and critics wasted no time in telling Mick he should stick to singing. One reviewer wrote: “He looks about as lethal as last week’s lettuce.” The movie bombed at the box office, but Mick turned out okay.

And in 1980 – AC/DC kicked off a 20-date tour, it was the band’s first gigs without Bon Scott.
