Members Of Parliament Asking The Queen To Honor Black Sabbath & Rock Update

After Black Sabbath’s reunion performance at the Commonwealth Games, members of Parliament are asking the Queen to officially recognize the heavy metal heroes for their “services to music.” We may soon have to refer to Ozzy as Sir Prince of Darkness.

In the History of Rock in 1969 – The Woodstock Music and Art Festival began on a 600-acre farm in Bethel, New York.  The three-day long festival drew a crowd of more than 500,000 people and became one of the most celebrated Rock and Folk concert festivals of all time. Those on the bill included Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Santana, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, Canned Heat, Joan Baez, Jefferson Airplane, Arlo Guthrie, and Joe Cocker.

In 1970 – “Looking Out My Back Door” by Credence Clearwater Revival enters the Billboard charts on its way to number 2. Although some fans speculate that the song is about drugs because of its colorful, dream-like lyrics, writer John Fogerty said it was actually written for his then three-year old son.

And in 1991 – Paul Simon played a free concert in New York’s Central Park before an audience of three quarters of a million people. The performance was released later with the apt title “Paul Simon’s Concert in the Park”.
