Joe Walsh Starts A Guest Residency On The Late Show & Classic Rock History

Joe Walsh is performing a guest residency on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert all this week. He’ll sit in with the house band during his time off. Walsh and The Eagles will resume their Hotel California tour on September 9th and then his VetsAid show is November 13th.

In the History of Rock in 1969 – As a policeman held up traffic, and a photographer balanced on a step-ladder in the middle of the road, six shots of John, Ringo, Paul, and George walking across the zebra crossing were shot for the cover of the “Abbey Road" album.

In 1987 – U2 scored their second US number 1 single from their Joshua Tree album with ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’. The song received two Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

And in 1992 – At a sold-out show of 55,000 in Olympic Stadium in Montreal a riot broke out during a Metallica and Guns N' Roses gig. Metallica’s show was cut short after James Hetfield was severely injured by pyrotechnics. Guns N’ Roses then took the stage, but frontman Axl Rose claimed that his throat hurt, causing them to leave the stage early. The cancellation led to a riot by the audience who overturned cars, smashed windows, looted stores and set fires.
