Carmine and Vinny Appice are two of the best drummers in rock. Carmine, the elder bro, played in Vanilla Fudge (co-perpetrators of the legendary "Mudshark Incident" at Seattle's Edgewater Inn in late '68, usually attributed to Led Zeppelin, the opening band that night), Cactus, Beck, Bogart, and Appice, and Rod Stewart to name a few. 11 year younger bro Vinny played with Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell. Interestingly they pronounce their names differently, Rod Stewart said Carmine's name one way, Ozzy said Vinnie's another way....what'ya going to argue with those guys? Now they're touring together.
Saturday night at El Corazon it's the Drum Wars Tour, with the Appice brothers joined by Jim Crean on vocals, Tony Delisio on guitar, and Bobby D'Angelo on bass.
Then Sunday the two host a drum clinic from 12:30-3:00pm at The Slab in Georgetown, put on by the Seattle Drum School, American Music, and Seattle drummer enthusiast Teri Beede.
