Last week I went to Germany and Austria to do some hiking and relaxing. And beer drinking. There are so many amazing beers...this week's blog is focused on Munich, Germany. One of my all time favorites is Schneider Weisse. They have the best wheat beer on the planet. But on my trip I also had amazing Dunkle's from Hofbrauhaus and Paulaner. And more wheat beers from Lowenbrau, Camba and Hohenthanner. And don't forget theyummy marzens! I had German has a Beer Purity Law that dictates that the ingredients for beer must be water, barley malt and hops. The important role that yeast plays in brewing was only recognized in the 19th century. Pretty cool. My fav pic might be of us at the maypole indicating this law. Or with the men in traditional garb at the Viktualienmarkt Beergarden. Overall, suffice it to say I drank a lot of delicious beer, ate fantastic food, and made new German friends along the way. If you haven't gone, put Munich on your list!!!
