This week's beer blog features my weekend trip to Oakland for a baseball game. For those who don't know, I'm on a quest to visit all the MLB baseball stadiums! I'm joined, as always, by my husband Matt, Rick Jones (of Goldberg Jones 1-800-DIVORCE), his gal pal Apryl, and our pal Booker. Whenever we hit a new stadium, we drink whatever is local. Ya gotta! For this trip, that meant two beers from California's Firestone Walker Brewing Company. I started with the Mind Haze, which is an IPA. The Mind Haze, as they aptly describe it, is juicy, hazy and tropical. My jam. 6.2% ABV, full of wonderful hop flavor. It was a hot day, so after that I went to their 805. The 805 is lower ABV, easy drinking, perfect for the warm weather. Perfect for a ballgame. I've yet to be disappointed in a Firestone Walker, these guys are total pros, brewing some of the best. I can't say the ballpark was one of the best...but that's not what Oakland is known for. You go for the experience. We had an amazing time, and I even made it to Sportscenter on ESPN. History was made at the ballpark! Check out my pics to see all the fun!
