Last week I spent some time in Maui. I love Hawaii, and was thrilled to be there again. The food, the beach, the snorkeling, the beer, the people...I love it all. But let's talk beer. I always do my best to drink local, and for this trip I was lucky to have a ton of options. Maui Brewing Company has a ton of styles. I picked up a mixed 12-pack that included their IPA, Blonde, Pilsner and Wheat. The wheat was a nice treat, because it's pineapple wheat! Not something you see much of on the mainland. I also had a Kohola Brewery Pale, Ola Brew (Hilo) Ma'a Lager, and Hilo Brewing Co Pale Ale. I was happy to see almost all local beers at the bars and restaurants. Had a nice Gold Cliff IPA from Kona Brewing Co at The Hula Grill Kaanapali. Nary a bad one in the bunch. Wherever your travels take you, support local. Drink and eat local! You'll be happy you did.
