Some things just go together. Han Solo and Chewbacca. Chocolate and peanut butter. Mulder and Scully. Beer and pizza. My friends at Sip Magazine gave me the heads up about a beer they collaborated on. Sip Mag, and beer and pizza...AND proceeds go to charity?! Heck yeah. The partnership is: Single Hill Brewing, out of Yakima, Zeeks Pizza, and Sip Magazine. It's called Lateral A IPA.
Proceeds from the beer benefit La Casa Hogar, a non-profit organization that provides a variety of assistance programs for the many Latina families that work the farms in the Yakima Valley.
These are vital farm workers. Beer drinkers around here know that the best hops grow in the PNW. Most all of our country's hops come from the Yakima Valley. Not only is that crop insanely important to the area, it's also vital for beer production nationwide.
Turns out, many of the growers and brewers in this area are also on the cutting edge of new hop varieties. They used experimental hops to make the Lateral A IPA. This beer is right up my alley. It's juicy and hoppy, with tropical fruit undertones. It's refreshing, and summery, and has all the great bitterness of an IPA. Absolutely delicious.
Order up pizza from Zeeks (YUM) and get some Lateral A IPA along with it. Lateral A IPA is available in 32-ounce growlers, 64-growlers, and in 16-ounce 4-packs. You can also find it at beer retailers throughout the area. Continue to drink local, my friends. And feel good about doing something good for your community while drinking it! Cheers.
