Sarah's Beer of the Week 06.11.2020

I was inspired to seek out this week's beer after reading an article from my friends at Sip Magazine. They wrote an article titled "9 Black Drink Pros You Should Get to Know".

Featured was Rodney Hines. He is the co-founder of Metier Brewing in Woodinville. Metier is Washington’s first Black-owned brewery. Drinking beer, drinking local, and supporting a business that gives back to the community is something we can all get behind. One of the many things they do is offer internships for women and people of color, which is supported by sales of the Black Stripe coconut porter.

If that wasn't impressive enough, Metier also bottles a pale ale featuring Major Taylor, the first Black world champion cyclist. Proceeds go to Cascade Bicycle Club’s “Major Taylor Project”who provide access to bikes for kids in Tacoma and Seattle.

They brew several different styles of beer, wheat, IPA, Scotch ale, Kolsch and more. PCC Community Market carries two styles, and their Black Stripe Coconut Porter is what jumped out to me. It's not a common style, and it's DELICIOUS. You can enjoy a beer, and enjoy knowing you're helping the community.

You can visit the brewery for pick-up, or find it at a handful of places. Use their beer locator here to see where. Stay strong, stay safe, and drink local my friend. Cheers.
