Sarah's Beer of the Week 10.31.19

This past weekend, my husband Matt and I went Aurora chasing. We flew to Fairbanks, in hopes of seeing it. We stayed up late. We stared up to the skies. We were sleep deprived. We wound up just being deprived. No Aurora Borealis. But the good news. Lot's of great food, beer and outdoor time. Did some nice hikes, hit yummy restaurtants...but a real standout was HooDoo Brewing. It's in the heart of the city of Fairbanks, but in an area almost like Georgetown here in Seattle. A very cool industrial space, with ample room inside and out. Yup, out. They have a very cool outdoor space, with tons of seating and fire pits. I'd imagine without a fire pit you'd be pretty sad this time of year in Alaska. Inside is also super cool. Big round tables, comfortable stools, and friendly staff. But...the beer. THE BEER. Great stuff!!!  Between the two of us we tried a Gose, an IPA, a stout and an XPA. The beer exceeded expectations. Delicious. The only complaint I had was they had sold out of the Oktoberfest!! Seriously, no complaints. We are already planning our return trip, since the didn't see the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis. I'm looking forward to it, because I love Alaska, and Fairbanks is a really cool spot!!!
