Sarah's Beer of the Week 07.11.19

Last week Matt and I went to Eastern Canada. We did a road trip of Nova Scotia, spending most of our time in Cape Breton. The landscape there is incredible. Trees, and ocean and fresh air. The small towns on our trek were amazing. Welcoming and full of friendly people. SO much fresh seafood. But...more importantly (heehee), there was plenty of good beer. The beer scene has gone long past Molson and Labatt. There were more breweries and styles of beer than I expected. We started our trip in the city of Halifax. Right after checking into the hotel we went to Garrison Brewing, along the main seaport. Great indoor outdoor location with a ton of beer. The standards, IPA's, wheat, reds. But all good. We also made a stop at 2 Crows Brewing, which serves funkier beer, more adventurous and exotic.

After Halifax, we started our road trip. Cape Breton is much more secluded. Small towns, great seafood, and a few breweries along the way. We wound up sampling quite a bit of brew. I think my favorite was Big Spruce Brewing in Baddeck. In addition to tons of beer we had tons of lobster, snow crab, chowder and heard amazing Scottish music. Did you know Nova Scotia translates to New Scotland? There is a lot of Scottish tradition, names, and music. Fun trip. Check out my pictures below for more!
