Sarah's Beer of the Week 04.18.19

While on vacation in Maui I had some spectacular Hawaiian beers. Of course you'll see beers from Maui Brewing and Kona Brewing for sale here in WA, but not the styles you can find in the islands. You likely won't find beers from Hawaii Nui Brewing, Kahola or Mahana Brewing. I had several great IPA's, and Reds. Matt stuck mainly to Blondes and Golden Ale. I wanted to try as many different beers as possible, which is normal for me when traveling. One thing I love about many of the Hawaiian breweries is the incorporation of fruit. Mango or pineapple can add dimension, without making it sweet or overly fruity. Mango blends really nicely with hops. I always recommend trying whatever is local when traveling. Even if it's a brand you've never heard of. Even if it's a style you're not sure of. Pineapple Blonde? Why not. IPA with guava and passionfruit? Why not. Check out the pics below, I had some great beers in Maui!
