Ozzy Osbourne took home two awards at last night’s Grammy’s, earning Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance. It could’ve been even bigger for Ozzy, he was also up for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance – but lost both to Brandi Carlile. Nirvana and Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson received Lifetime Achievement awards.
In the History of Rock in 1965 – The Righteous Brothers, who it turns out were not related, started a two-week run at number 1 on the US singles chart with the Phil Spector produced ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.
In 1982 – J Geils Band started a six-week run at number 1 with ‘Centerfold’, the band’s only chart topper.
And in 2001 – Guitarist Don Felder was fired from the Eagles for attempting to sell the rights to a “tell-all” book. He would later launch a $50 million lawsuit against drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glen Frey, alleging wrongful termination and breach of contract. Henley and Frey then countersued, and both parties settled out-of-court for an undisclosed amount.
