U2 frontman Bono will be a guest and perform on tonight’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He’s promoting his newly published memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story”.

In the History of Rock in 1967 – Pink Floyd made their US debut with a performance in San Francisco. The tour came to an early end because of Syd Barrett increasingly strange behavior.

In 1977 – During a concert in London, Elton John announces that he will not tour anymore. He stayed off the road for fifteen months and is now on his third or fourth retirement tour.

And in 1991 – A free concert in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco was held to honor the memory of promoter Bill Graham. On the bill were Journey, Crosby, Stills, Nash And Young, The Grateful Dead and Joan Baez.
