Eddie Vedder Joins The Who For Charity Performance & Classic Rock History

Eddie Vedder joined The Who at a private charity event raising money for Teen Cancer America, a charity founded by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. They performed “The Seeker”.

In the History of Rock in 1968 – George Harrison releases his first solo album, “Wonderwall Music” on the Apple label. The songs are mostly Harrison instrumentals, aided by Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr and an unaccredited banjo contribution by Peter Tork of The Monkees. The LP would reach #49 in the US.

In 1975 – Elton John started a three-week run at number 1 on the US singles chart with ‘Island Girl’, his 5th US number 1. The lyrics are about a prostitute in New York City and a Jamaican man who wants to take her back to Jamaica.

And in 1994 – Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance was released on this day. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and has been certified eight-times multiplatinum.
