KISS played a private show in Austin over the weekend… and their crowd was interesting. The show was not open to the public. They played to less than a hundred people who worked for Philip Morris International, the largest tobacco company in the world.
In the History of Rock in 1978 – Keith Richards was convicted in a Canadian court on a drug charge and received a one year suspended sentence, as well an order to play a benefit concert. The Rolling Stones fulfilled that obligation by performing at a charity concert for the blind in Ontario.
In 2004 – Queen became the first rock act to receive an official seal of approval in Iran. Western music was still strictly censored in the Islamic republic, but illegal bootleg albums had made Queen one of the most popular bands in Iran.
And in 2005 – A reformed Cream with Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker opened a sold-out, three-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
