In the History of Rock in 1967 – Jimi Hendrix releases “Purple Haze”. Although it’s now considered a classic, it only reached number 65 on the Billboard chart.

In 1970 – Recording with Eric Clapton, producer Tom Dowd took Clapton to an Allman Brothers concert he first heard Duane Allman play in person. Clapton and Allman formed an instant bond that that we can all hear on the Layla album.

And in 2005 – A plaque was unveiled at the site where The Quarrymen, the band which became The Beatles, made their first recordings. John, Paul and George recorded a version of Buddy Holly’s ‘That’ll Be The Day’ and a Lennon-Harrison song called ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’ as The Quarrymen at the Percy Philips studio in Liverpool in 1958.
