In 1975 – Bruce Springsteen released his third studio album Born to Run. The album peaked at number 3 and helped Springsteen reach mainstream popularity.
And in 1979 – Nine weeks after being released, The Knack’s infectious tune “My Sharona” reached the top of the Billboard charts where it would remain for six weeks. The group’s lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Doug Fieger would say that he put words to guitarist Berton Averre’s melody in about fifteen minutes, writing about his 17-year-old girlfriend.
