The Stadium Tour Earning $5 Million A Night & Classic Rock History

The Stadium Tour finally kicked off this summer after two years of COVID-delays, featuring Motley Crue and Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett. And it’s going pretty well. A new report has the shows grossing an average of $5 million a night. Ticket sales have them ranking at forth between all summer tours behind only Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

They play T-Mobile Park on August 31st.

In the History of Rock in 1969 – Hippie leader Abbie Hoffman is pushed off the stage by Pete Townshend while attempting to make a political statement during the Who’s set at Woodstock. Townshend later said he didn’t know it was Hoffman at the time.

In 1975 – Peter Gabriel announced that he was leaving Genesis. They auditioned more than 400 singers during the next 18 months and then decided that Phil Collins, their drummer since 1970, could front the band.

And in 1986 – Another drummer, Rick Allen, from Def Leppard made his first live appearance with the band after losing an arm in a car accident, when they appeared at the Monsters Of Rock Festival in England.
