In the History of Rock in 1980 – Def Leppard celebrated Joe Elliot’s 21st birthday with their live US debut opening for AC/DC.
In 1981 – A tv network was launched featuring 24 hours a day of music videos. They called it MTV, when they launched with the music video for the Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star.” It’s still called that, but now its mostly reality shows.
And in 1985 – Starship, the band created as a continuation of Jefferson Starship, released their single “We Built This City.” The song went to number one but is now listed on many “worst songs” lists. The city, incidentally, was built on rock and roll.
