An all-star lineup has been announced for the first Taylor Hawkins tribute concert. It will include Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, Stewart Copeland of the Police, Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Wolfgang Van Halen, and more, joining the Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium on September 3rd.
Hawkins will also be remembered at a September 27th concert at Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The lineup for that show has not yet been announced.
In the History of Rock in 1985 – Dire Straits started a nine-week run at Number 1 on the US album chart with, Brothers In Arms. The album won two Grammy Awards.
In 1989 – Nirvana’s debut album Bleach was released. The title for the album came from a poster ‘Bleach Your Works’ urging drug users to bleach their needles. Kurt Cobain later claimed that most of the lyrics on the album were written the night before recording, and that he was not fond of them.
And in 1996 – George Martin, the producer of most of the Beatles’ recordings, received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II.
