Kurt Cobain’s 1969 Fender Mustang Sells For 5x Estimated Value & History

If you had plans to buy Kurt Cobain’s 1969 Fender Mustang “Smells Like Teen Spirit” guitar, unfortunately you’ve been outbid. The guitar was expected to go for $600,000 - $800,000 at auction, but instead sold to the Owner & CEO of the Indianapolis Colts for a cool $4.5 million.

In the History of Rock in 1968 – Simon And Garfunkel scored their second US number 1 album with 'Bookends'. The album featured four US singles including ‘Mrs Robinson’.

In 1969 – The Who and Led Zeppelin appeared at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. This was the only time the two groups ever appeared together, with Zeppelin opening the show.

And in 1995 – The earliest known recording of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, from 1961, was sold at Christies in London for  just over $85,000.
