Is Van Halen Planning A Tribute Tour? Plus Some Classic Rock History

Joe Satriani revealed he has been in talks with Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth about a potential tribute tour as a tribute to Eddie. Diamond Dave chimed in saying that it would take two members for every instrument to complete the band, and several rock stars have been approached.

In the History of Rock in 1965 – The Beatles single ‘Ticket to Ride’ was released in the US. The single’s label stated it was from the upcoming movie ‘Eight Arms to Hold You’, the original name for the movie Help!

In 1980 – R.E.M. played their first gig in Athens, Georgia for 150 people. The show ended at 2am when police closed it down due to the venue being unlicensed.

And in 1982 – Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunite for a European tour after the success of their New York Central Park concert. Tensions between the pair cause them to split again before they can tour the US and by the time the album they were working on came out 18 months later, all traces of Garfunkel’s contributions had been electronically removed.
