Geddy Lee's New Book, New Music From Tom Morello: Classic Rock Update

Dave Grohl is not the only one with a book, Rush’s Geddy Lee is releasing a memoir next fall, presenting an “epic-length account” of his life “on and off the stage.” The bassist documented the as-yet-untitled HarperCollins project in a lengthy Instagram post, detailing how the idea developed during his unexpected stint at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tom Morello has released another song. He teams up with the British metalcore act Bring Me the Horizon on the new track “Let’s Get the Party Started.” It’s the latest single from the Rage Against the Machine guitarist’s upcoming album The Atlas Underground Fire.

In the History of Rock in 1965 – San Francisco Rock group, The Great Society, with Grace Slick on lead vocals, makes its stage debut at the Coffee Gallery in North Beach, California. The band would eventually evolve into Jefferson Airplane.

In 1982 – The Who kick off what they say is their farewell tour, a 40-date trip that will gross $23 million. They would reunite in 1985.

And in 1985 – 80,000 fans watched the first Farm Aid concert, featuring Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Roy Orbison, Loretta Lynn, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and other performers who help raise $7 million. The annual event takes place every Fall to help the American family farmer.
