Rolling Stones Play Private Show For Patriot's Owner: Classic Rock Update

The Rolling Stones have played another private concert for New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The group performed yesterday at Gillette Stadium. The 15-song set, the band’s first since the passing of Charlie Watts, included the live debut of2020’s “Living in a Ghost Town,” alongside such classic rock favorites as “Sympathy For the Devil” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

For the second time in less than a week, Metallica played a surprise club show, this time at The Metro in Chicago. The gig was announced just hours before the performance was set to take place, with tickets priced at $19.83 to commemorate the last time Metallica were onstage at The Metro — 1983, at the beginning of their now historic career.

In the History of Rock in 1968 – Jimi Hendrix Experience released their version of the Bob Dylan song ‘All Along the Watchtower’. Hendrix had been given a tape of Dylan’s recording by a publicist. Dave Mason from Traffic and Rolling Stone Brian Jones both played on the recording.

In 1980 – During a North American tour, Bob Marley collapsed while jogging in New York’s Central Park. After hospital tests he was diagnosed as having cancer. Marley played his last ever concert two nights later at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

And in 1985 – With the help of heavy MTV exposure ‘Money For Nothing’ gave Dire Straits their first U.S. number one single.
