Sarah's Beer of the Week 08.08.19

My favorite place to get a massage or to get my hair done is Habitude Salon and Spa in Ballard. It's an amazing place to relax. My favorite place to go afterwards is Kiss Cafe, because they have an insanely good beer list. This week I made the trip to 'get hair supplies' but really I just wanted to see what was new at Kiss Cafe. They had the Luponic Distortion Series from Firestone Walker. I was obsessed with this IPA series through about #8. Then I stopped seeing it around. Basically, they do the same base, but each incarnation has experimental hops. Each one was completely different. They say the flavors are achieved solely through hops...not fruit is added!! How crazy. What I spotted was #12. The can touted 'strawberry, guava and tangerine'. I don't like sweet beers, but I certainly don't mind some fruit forward flavors with a hoppy beer.

This is a really solid beer. Tropical fruit forward. Still bitter, juicy hops. It had a sort of exotic feel about it, I'm guessing that's the guava. Some people don't like IPA's in the summer because they think they are too heavy. Not the case here. Quite delicious, and that hint of the tropics really hits the spot.

Word is #13 is out there, and it's 'key lime pina colada'. Hey, don't knock it til you try it.
