One of the great things about New England is the long tradition of beer and the lobster. Of course there is a little US history and sports in there too, but for the purpose of my beer blog...let's talk about beer! Sam Adams is one of the grand daddy's of craft beer, if not THE grand daddy. And the creator of Sam Adams is a big believer in helping other craft brewers. They have inspired SO many other craft brewers. The beer I had while visiting family on Cape Cod, is from Nantucket. Nantucket is a tiny island off Cape Cod. It was once the whaling capital of the world. Even got a mention in Moby Dick. The book, not the Led Zep song. Now, Nantucket is home to beautiful beaches, posh homes, and some good craft beer!
I had Cisco Brewers Whale's Tale Pale Ale. It's not as hoppy as say, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It's got a bit more malt forwardness. The bottle is SO cool, great artwork. In a cold pint glass I have to confess it was the perfect accompaniment to a lobster roll. Sounds posh, I know, but you can buy a whole lobster in NE for $5.99 a pound. Paired with a local beer??? Life is good.
